The 2017 Lifesaving Award Winners

Founder Award

Brian Devine
The Petco Foundation was founded in 1999, because one man, Brian Devine had the foresight to create the Foundation to help save animal lives. Petco has never sold dogs and cats in its stores, because people like Brian believed in the importance of pet adoption. Since 1999, the Petco Foundation has invested more than $200 million dollars in animal welfare organizations throughout the country. In recognition of his contributions, Brian Devine received the Petco Foundation Founder Award.

Paul Jolly Compassion Award

Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association
Congratulations to our 2017 Paul Jolly Compassion Award Winner -- the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association! "If a little shelter whose budget was less than a million dollars in rural West Virginia can become a lifesaving facility and sustain that and change their community, anyone can do it," said Chelsea Staley. Watch their inspirational story to the end -- you will be happy you did.

Helping Heroes Award

Mission K9 Rescue
Mission K9 Rescue serves the canines that have served our country, bringing them home to a hero's welcome and assuring that they retire in loving homes. Their dedication and commitment is why Mission K9 Rescue is the Petco Foundation's 2017 Helping Heroes Award Winner.

Love Amplified Award

What does it take to Clear the Shelters? A whole lot of love from a major television network partnering with shelters across the country. Our dream is to clear the shelters everyday, and NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations show us what we can accomplish together. Warning - get out the tissues for tears of joy!

Lifesaving Impact Award

LifeLine Animal Project
Impact -- "to have a strong effect on someone or something." LifeLine Animal Project certainly did that for more than 16,000 animals in Atlanta's county shelters. What was once called a chamber of horrors is now a lifesaving organization. This transformational impact is what makes LifeLine Animal Project the Petco Foundation's 2017 Lifesaving Impact Award winner.

Unsung Hero Award

Karl Booker
We all know someone like Karl Booker, whose love for animals is so genuine and unselfish. It's simply beautiful. Recognizing Karl Booker with the Petco Foundation's 2017 Unsung Hero Award is a tribute to all the heroes saving lives across the country.

Spay Neuter Award

Coalition for Pets and its founder, Erika Brunson, are working to reduce the high intake of animals at the Los Angeles county shelters, with 120,000 spay neuter surgeries and counting. They believe in helping people and pets in need. Coalition for Pets is the 2017 Petco Foundation Spay Neuter Award winner.
