Brian + Rico

When Rico was diagnosed with mast cell cancer, the Petco Foundation’s partnership with the FACE Foundation helped Brian cover the cost of treatment for his pet.

Brian + Rico

Little Rico had a good bill of health and had always lived an active lifestyle. So when he was diagnosed with mast cell cancer, his pet parents Brittany and Brian were shocked.

From the moment Rico became part of the family, he provided unconditional love. And upon diagnosis, Brittany and Brian vowed to do everything possible to save their best friend.

"And upon diagnosis, Brittany and Brian vowed to do everything possible to save their best friend."

“He has been by my side through some of the most difficult and challenging moments, including the loss of a close family member. Rico’s sweet, human-like demeanor, huge heart and unconditional love have continued to save my heart time and time again.”

Because of the donations raised during the PCA campaign by our lifesaving champions across the nation, the Petco Foundation is able to partner with organizations like the FACE Foundation to help pet parents afford the costs of pet cancer treatment.

Rico has completed his treatments and is now on a chemo pill regimen. He is doing better and is back to his old self again.

Today, he loves nothing more than going to the beach—he’s even been known to surf! When he’s not at the beach, he’s at the dog park. “Beach” and “park” are his favorite words and he even knows when his pet parents spell them.

“We feel so lucky now for his health and for all the help we have received from FACE, the Petco Foundation and Blue Buffalo. We are beyond grateful for your help funding Rico’s treatment, and the future smiles he will pass on to everyone he meets!” said Brittany.

Together with Blue Buffalo, the Petco Foundation has invested more than $13 million in pet cancer research and treatment.
