  • SUBMISSION FAQS

    WHEN CAN I SUBMIT MY PHOTO AND/OR VIDEO ENTRY?
    Adopters can submit photos and/or videos from February 1, 9 a.m. CST to February 14, 5 p.m. CST.

    HOW DO I SUBMIT MY PHOTO AND/OR VIDEO ENTRY?
    To enter the #ShelterValentine, post a photo or video to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with a Valentine message that celebrates pet adoption

    In order to be eligible for a prize:

    • Your social media account must be set to public
    • You must post a photo that features you and/or your pet
    • You must include the hashtag #ShelterValentine and @mention both @PetcoFoundation and the organization where you adopted your pet
    • Entries must be posted by 5pm CT on February 14, 2020. The Petco Foundation’s website server is the official clock for this contest.

    Bonus entry – You may submit an additional entry for the #ShelterValentine Contest by filling out the bonus entry online form at petcofoundation.org/love. To have that entry count, you must first submit your #ShelterValentine photo or video on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter following the above eligibility requirements.

    Share any media that shows how the love of a pet has changed your life and that sends a thank you and/or message of hope to shelter pets and those who love and care for them.

    I AM A PETCO EMPLOYEE. AM I ABLE TO SUBMIT PHOTOS AND WIN A PRIZE?
    We are always happy to see Petco employees celebrating the love of adopted pets! Petco employees are eligible to submit and win grant awards for their animal welfare organization, but are not eligible to claim prizes associated with the event.

    WHAT QUALIFIES AS AN ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATION?
    The Petco Foundation grants funds to qualified animal welfare organizations based in the United States. Organizations include municipal or government animal shelters and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations such as humane societies, SPCAs and foster-based rescues. In order to claim a grant award, the selected organization must complete a grant application prior to February 28, 2020.

    DOES MY PET HAVE TO BE ADOPTED?
    Anyone can share a message of support. However, If you adopted your pet from an eligible animal welfare organization, you are eligible to win a prize pack and a grant award for the organization you adopted your pet from.

    CAN OUR ORGANIZATION HAVE MORE THAN ONE WINNING SUBMISSION?
    Yes, it is possible that multiple entries could result in more than one grant award for your organization!

    HOW DOES MY ORGANIZATION BECOME ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A GRANT AWARD?
    The Petco Foundation grants funds to qualified animal welfare organizations based in the United States. Organizations include municipal or government animal shelters and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations such as humane societies, SPCAs and foster-based rescues.

    To receive an award, selected organizations will be required to complete a short application form by Feb. 28, 2020 and must meet the Petco Foundation’s grant requirements. Selected organizations will be notified via email and phone with instructions on how to complete their grant application.

    I’M A SERVICE ANIMAL ORGANIZATION, CAN SOMEONE ENTER A SUBMISSION ON OUR BEHALF?
    If your organization acquired the pet featured in submission from an animal shelter, trained the service animal and matched them with a person in need, yes, you may be eligible to participate.

  • WINNER SELECTION AND PRIZES FAQS

    WHO WILL DECIDE WHICH ORGANIZATIONS ARE SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE DAILY GRANTS?
    Winning submissions will be chosen randomly each day. The associated submitter and the organization they adopted from will be selected as winners. Submitters must be 18 years of age or older at time of entry. If the selected submission does not include organization information, no grant award will be given for that selected submission. See Official Rules.

    WHAT ARE THE PRIZES FOR THE #SHELTERVALENTINE CONTEST?
    Daily during the 14-day promotion period, one (1) random drawing will be conducted by the Foundation from among all eligible entries received to award the below prizes. Additionally, on or around February 14, 2020 one (1) recipient will be determined for the grand prize:
